Microsoft has announced it will release Fresh Paint for Windows 8.1 on October 14. The current preview version added watercolor, a graphite pencil set and a cleaner, more modern user interface.
The updated app allows images to be imported from SkyDrive or Bing Image Search and new and improved filters can be used to turn the images into paintings. Pen and stylus input has also been improved and custom palettes can now be saved.
The app also now integrated with CanvasPop’s printing API to allow paintings to be printed onto a real canvas and shipped to the user. A special offer is available on the CanvasPop website here that gives Fresh Paint users in the US, Canada and European Union $30 off orders of $70 or more.
Microsoft has also announced it will release an update to Fresh Paint for Windows Phone. The updated app has an updated user interface to match the Windows app, adds a graphite pencil set and allows paintings to be synchronised on different devices through SkyDrive.
